| Zn²⁺-supported bentonite catalyst was prepared through acid activation of natural bentonite, followed by zinc incorporation. The catalyst efficiently promoted the green synthesis of bis(tetrazolyl)methane via the [3+2] cycloaddition of malononitrile and sodium azide in water under reflux. The high surface area of bentonite enabled strong immobilization of Zn²⁺, improving catalyst stability and reducing leaching. Under optimized conditions, high yields and good selectivity were achieved. The catalyst was easily separated and reused for several cycles with minimal loss of activity, highlighting its practicality and sustainability for tetrazole synthesis. |
