| Synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans using a magnetic nanocatalyst Fe3O4@(Glucose:Dimethylurea) under solvent-free conditions |

| Tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans are heterocyclic compounds of great importance in medicinal chemistry and bioactive substances that possess anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties [1, 2]. Extensive research has focused on enhancing the synthesis of substituted 4H-pyrans and tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran derivatives through the application of diverse catalytic systems, including TiCl₄, Fe₃O₄-based nanocomposites, ZnO, OPSF, NH₄H₂PO₄–Al₂O₃, AuNPs@RGO-SH, H₅BW₁₂O₄₀, PPh@EDA, and caffeine [3, 4]. In this study, the efficient synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans via a multicomponent reaction between aldehyde, malononitrile, and dimedone derivatives using NADES glucose:dimethylurea based on magnetic nanocatalyst Fe3O4 as a green and recyclable catalyst is reported. The reaction was carried out under solvent-free conditions and in the presence of nanocatalyst Fe3O4@(glucose:dimethylurea), which led to the formation of products in high yields (80-98%). The nanocatalyst can be easily separated by a magnet and reused after several washings without a significant loss of activity. Compared with previously reported strategies, this method offers notable economic and environmental benefits, while the excellent recyclability of the catalyst provides a key advantage for potential industrial applications. Overall, it represents a green, simple, and highly efficient approach for the synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran derivatives. |
