چکیده مقاله
Lithium perchlorate has been effectively employed as a Lewis acid catalyst for various reactions like aminoalkylation of electron-rich aromatic compounds, selective Michaeladdition of active methylene compounds and regioselective ring opening of epoxides [1-2]. Most of coumarin derivatives are biologically active. A great volume of studies have attempted to inhibit bacterial growth using naturally occurring coumarins, such as xanthoxin, herniarin, umbelliferone, and scopoletin on the antifungal activity of umbelliferone, scopoletin, and coumarin itself [3, 4].
4-Hydroxycoumarins are with a lot of applications as drugs with anticoagulant, spasmolytic, bacteriostatic, potential anti- HIV,antifungal and herbicides activity. Some coumarin derivatives are known for their antibiotic and antifungal activities, furtheremore some of the investigated compounds show low toxicity and dosedependent anticoagulant activity in vivo. They are also extensively used as analytical reagents [5, 6].
In this work, in this report, we describe the synthesis of 3, 3-arylidene bis- (4-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-ones) from condensation of aromatic aldehydes with 4- hydroxycoumarin using lithium perchlorate.
