| The catalytic hydrogenation of CO2 into C2-C3 products offers a sustainable strategy for carbon recycling and renewable chemical synthesis. While C₁ compounds such as methane and methanol are readily formed over many catalysts, the selective generation of C2-C3 products (e.g., ethylene, ethanol, and propanol) remains challenging due to the high energy barrier for C-C bond formation. Copper is uniquely capable of facilitating *CO dimerization. A critical step toward multi-carbon products, but suffers from excessive methanation and poor stability. Alloying Cu with Ag has emerged as an effective approach to modulate surface intermediate binding and enhance C-C coupling. In this work, we report a mesoporous Ag-Cu/SiO2 catalyst synthesized via a sol-gel method combined with impregnation, which demonstrates exceptional selectivity toward C2-C3 products in the thermal hydrogenation of CO₂ under mild conditions. |
