چکیده مقاله
In this research, chitosan (CS) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) bio-based films were prepared by adding Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs) to improve their structure and biological performance. The combination of CS and PVA is an efficient option for packaging and biomedical applications due to its biocompatibility, antibacterial properties, and mechanical strength [1]. COFs, due to their porous crystalline structure and high specific surface area, enhanced the interfacial adhesion and improved the structure of the films [2]. In this regard, CS/PVA films (CP) were produced via a drop-casting method using a 4 wt% COF suspension (CPC4D), which was prepared from the condensation reaction of melamine and trimellitic acid in a DMF medium [2], along with 96% of the CS/PVA polymer. XRD and FTIR results confirmed the interaction between the COF and the polymer matrix and the increase in structural order of the CPC4D film compared to the CP film; FE-SEM images also showed a uniform distribution of the filler phase. Regarding antibacterial activity, the CPC4D sample recorded better microbial growth inhibition compared to the CP film. These findings confirm the effective role of COF in enhancing the functional properties of CP films for packaging and medical applications.
