چکیده مقاله
A sustainable and efficient visible‑light‑driven photocatalytic system for the regioselective bromination of aromatic compounds is presented [1]. The method employs heterogeneous TiO₂–halloysite nanotube (TiO₂–HNT) composites as a reusable photocatalyst, using KBr as an inexpensive bromine source and molecular oxygen as a green oxidant (Scheme 1). The TiO₂–HNT catalyst is synthesized via low‑temperature in situ crystallization, where halloysite nanotubes direct uniform TiO₂ crystal growth and enable precise control over anatase or anatase/rutile mixed phases. Under mild conditions, the protocol delivers high yields and excellent para‑selectivity for electron‑rich arenes, along with broad functional‑group tolerance [2]. The heterogeneous catalyst can be easily recovered and reused without significant loss of activity, and ICP‑OES analysis confirms negligible metal leaching. Overall, this study provides a practical and environmentally benign approach for aromatic bromination and highlights the potential of TiO₂–halloysite photocatalysts in visible‑light‑driven oxidative C–H functionalization reactions.
