چکیده مقاله
α-Arylation of carbonyl compounds is particularly important, as α-aryl ketones are key structural motifs in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and natural products. Conventional α arylation methods commonly rely on palladium catalysis or highly reactive reagents, suffering from drawbacks such as high cost, metal contamination, harsh conditions, and limited scalability. Against this backdrop, visible light photocatalysis has emerged as a sustainable and mechanistically distinct alternative for C–C bond formation under mild conditions [1]. Herein, a metal free visible light driven strategy for direct α arylation of ketones with aryl halides is reported using one dimensional heterogeneous crystalline TiO₂–halloysite nanotubes as an efficient photocatalyst (Scheme 1). The nanocomposite is prepared via low temperature in situ crystallization, where halloysite nanotubes guide uniform TiO₂ nucleation and crystal growth. Precise control over the TiO₂ crystalline phase is achieved by tuning sol acidity, yielding either anatase or mixed anatase/rutile composites while preserving structural integrity. Overall, this work presents a practical and sustainable approach for α arylation of ketones, underscoring the potential of TiO₂–halloysite photocatalysts for visible light driven C–C bond forming reactions [2].
