An Efficient Synthesis of Some Chromene Derivatives Catalyzed by Cu/ZnO@GO Nanocomposite

Chromenes exhibit ubiquitous structural characteristics and are integral to medicinal chemistry owing to their notable therapeutic properties [1]. In the present work the utility of Cu/ZnO@GO as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for a facile synthesis of a series of 7-aryl-6H,7H-chromeno[4,3-b][1,3]dioxolo[4,5-g]chromen-6-ones (4) is developed (Scheme 1). First, the Cu/ZnO@GO nanocomposite was prepared via a simple precipitation route [2] and then characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-Ray diffraction (XRD) technique, energy dispersive X-Ray (EDS) analysis, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Furthermore, the structural integrity and purity of the produced chromene derivatives were comprehensively confirmed by FTIR, mass spectrometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (¹H NMR and ¹³C NMR).
In conclusion, avoiding hazardous solvent, using inexpensive, recyclable and non-toxic catalyst, very mild reaction conditions, high yields of products, short reaction time, simple experimental and easy purification are the remarkable advantages of this procedure.
