Recent advances in non‑enzymatic electrochemical glucose sensors have highlighted the importance of developing stable platforms capable of operating under highly alkaline conditions. A major challenge in this field is designing electrodes that ensure efficient electron transfer while supporting the controlled structuring of active metal species. The use of biogenic materials as surface modifiers has emerged as a sustainable and environmentally friendly strategy that can enhance electrode performance [1-2]. In this work, we present a bio‑electrochemical strategy for fabricating a carbon‑based hybrid electrode tailored for non‑enzymatic glucose sensing at strong alkalinity (pH 13). The approach involves selective activation of the carbon substrate followed by modification with a biogenic surface layer that promotes controlled metal organization and facilitates electron‑transfer processes.
