| چکیده مقاله |
| Urea functional groups play a key role in organic and pharmaceutical chemistry due to their strong hydrogen‑bonding ability, structural rigidity and wide applications in linker design and functional materials [1-3]. In this study, two structurally related urea‑based linkers (A and B) were synthesized and characterized, one bearing a phenyl ring and the other a naphthyl ring. Both linkers were obtained via a similar synthetic route starting from the corresponding aromatic precursors, giving the phenyl‑ and naphthyl‑based urea derivatives in 70% and 73% yields, respectively. The structures of the linkers were confirmed by FT‑IR, ¹H NMR and ¹³C NMR spectroscopy as well as UV–Vis measurements, and both compounds exhibited melting points above 270 °C, indicating high thermal stability. The comparison of their spectroscopic shows that introduction of the bulkier naphthyl moiety leads to a more extended π‑system, making these urea‑based linkers promising candidates for future applications in coordination chemistry and functional organic materials. The proposed synthesis mechanism of linkers A and B is illustrated in Scheme 1. |
