چکیده مقاله
Introduction:The discharge of persistent dyes from textile and leather industries poses serious environmental risks. Congo Red (CR), a highly stable anionic azo dye, is difficult to degrade and negatively affects aquatic ecosystems, making its removal from wastewater essential.
Materials and Methods:A heterogeneous SiO₃@Cu/ML nanocomposite was synthesized as a new adsorbent for CR removal. The material was prepared by anchoring a copper–ligand complex onto a silica support and characterized using FT-IR, XRD, SEM, TGA, and EDS techniques.
Results and Conclusion:Batch experiments showed a maximum removal efficiency of over 94% at pH 6, 25 °C, and 20 min contact time. The adsorption followed a pseudo-second-order kinetic model and fitted well with the Langmuir isotherm, with a maximum capacity of about 276 mg g⁻¹. The process was exothermic, and the adsorbent maintained good reusability with only an 8% efficiency loss after five cycles, indicating strong potential for wastewater treatment.
