The novel synthesized zinc oxide co-doped with silver and cerium for degradation organic materials

چکیده مقاله
In this study, zinc oxide photocatalyst modified with Ag and Ce metals was synthesized by combustion method using microwave heating system. According to the results of bleaching experiments, it was found that the catalyst synthesized with a Ce to Ag mass ratio of 0.5 is more efficient, and the properties of this catalyst were evaluated by XRD, SEM and FT-IR analyses. The photocatalytic activity of Ce-Ag-ZnO was investigated by the degradation of organic materials like Reactive Red 120 dye in a semi-continuous photocatalytic reactor under the influence of UV--A lamp. The finding showed that the optimal conditions for the decolorization of azo dye occurred at a concentration of 20 mg/L and pH=7 and under these conditions the efficiency obtained is about 99%.
